In today’s world, hardly anything runs without electricity. We’ve created all sorts of systems to make sure we have access to electricity wherever we go – be it outside our homes, with power plants, substations, transformer stations, high and medium voltage lines, and powerful supply cables, or inside our houses and apartments in the form of domestic installations and electrical consumers – but we did this without thinking of the possible side-effects.
This low-frequency power supply network generates electric and magnetic fields, producing what’s called ‘electrosmog’. All electronic devices inside the home also cause electrosmog in the same way.
In the high-frequency range, you have powerful communications transmitters for things like radio, television, radar, directional radio, etc., which emit electromagnetic waves over a wide area. This results in a high-frequency electrosmog that is almost impossible to avoid.
Within our homes, we have WiFi, often with amplifier antennas, Bluetooth, and cell phones or cordless home phones, all of which are emitting DECT pulsed microwaves around the clock, even to surrounding apartments and buildings, and even when you’re not in a phone call! Due to LTE and 5G networks, which are currently being expanded, all of this is set to become much worse in the future, because not only are the antennas themselves much stronger, but they also have to be positioned closer to us to work as well as intended.
All this has led to us being exposed to electromagnetic stressors at almost all times and places, one’s that, as a species and as a culture, we have never been exposed to before.
As a result, we are not yet remotely aware of the possible effects it could be having on our health, perceptions, and psyches.
The issue with these developments is that our body’s own information system also works on natural electromagnetic signals, just at a much lower energy level – our nerve cells release certain neurotransmitters in response to electrical signals, which are then transmitted to the next nerve cell. These neurotransmitters include, for example, dopamine and serotonin, two things that are key to conditioning our state of mind.
Our brain waves can be measured with EEG testing, and you don’t have to be an expert to understand that our bodies can be, and in fact are, influenced by electromagnetic radiation. The way we’re flooded with electromagnetic fields and radiation from technology causes manifold biological disturbances in humans and animals by mixing electromagnetic signals into the natural information system of our cells, body systems, and organs.
With dark field microscopy, the catastrophic, health-damaging effects ambient electromagnetic radiation has on the human body can be seen visually. If one takes a blood sample from someone, and then another one after they’ve had 3-minute phone call, one finds the latter sample totally clumped and visibly damaged by the microwaves. All this is particularly disastrous for small children, as it can lead to the blood-brain barrier being permanently damaged.
In a long-term study over 10 years, the disease progression of those living in a residential area with a cell phone tower in the middle was recorded in detail. In a radius of 400m from the antenna, there were no particular abnormalities during the first 5 years, but during the 6th to 10th year, there was an increased cancer rate of over 300%. This shows us beyond reasonable doubt that we cannot estimate the extent of the damage in any way, and that many unsuspecting people live in radiation zones that are essentially a ticking time bomb.
Continuous, long-term exposure to electrosmog demonstrably impairs the regulatory processes of all living beings. This brings us back to the things I’ve talked about with regard to earth radiation. Continuous exposure to radiation also disturbs the important vagotonic regeneration phase of the body and impairs melatonin production.
Medical research the world over has proven that even weak electromagnetic fields have biological effects. However, because the malfunctioning of biological processes due to interference fields only occurs gradually, biological damage can only be detected by diagnosis after a longer latency period, and the causes of disease are often attributed to other factors, this connection is often not noticed or deliberately ignored by many people, even doctors and scientists themselves.
In relation to this, I find it important to mention that the upper limits on electrosmog frequencies triggered by mobile radio devices are set, worldwide, by a private association(!) whose members come primarily from the mobile radio industry. Furthermore, it is interesting that these values are based on physical, i.e. thermal, effects, and not on biological ones. To put it more simply, this limit value ensures only that the radiation doesn’t burn us – all other health-relevant factors, some of which I described above, are wilfully left out of the equation. This is like me concluding some mushroom I picked up off the forest floor is safe to eat because it doesn’t hurt when someone throws it at you.
Electrosmog occurs when voltage is present, current flows, or signals are transmitted.
In building biology, we are concerned in the following 5 things:
» Alternating electric fields (low frequency)
» Alternating magnetic fields (low frequency)
» Electromagnetic waves (high frequency)
» Direct electric fields (electrostatics)
» Magnetic direct fields (magnetostatics)
Every organism reacts differently to electromagnetic stress. On the one hand, this depends on the intensity and duration of the frequencies or modulations, and the resulting combined effects on their particular biology. On the other, it all depends on their genetic predispositions, pre-existing and present health problems, and the organism’s ability to cope with such stresses and its general resistance to external influences.
This situation makes it difficult to make clear statements about the consequences of exposure. Overall, however, it can be said with certainty that man-made electrosmog poses a significant threat to general health.
